Celebrate Singapore Social Media Day 2013 by cooking for your love ones this July and win great prizes!

Celebrate Singapore Social Media Day 2013 this July! Omy.sg, Singapore’s leading news and entertainment portal, is running this event for the 3rd consecutive year. With a theme in mind, Omy.sg, together with sponsor CP foods, decided to promote home cooking and family bonding through the power of social media.

Singapore Social Media Day (SGSMD) is local version of the global event, World Social Media Day, initiated by internet news blog Mashable in 2010. As the name suggests, this event, which is annually celebrated on 30th June, links everyone on social media to celebrate the success and changes we have come by so far. SGSMD is then lead by omy.sg, since 2011, with the objective of 'using social media for a social cause' .

Ms. Janet Ong, Digital/Social Media Strategist, omy.sg, said: “With people spending more time online and on social media, this campaign comes as a timely reminder for all to spend some quality time with our family and loved ones by surprising them with the love of a home-cooked meal. Preparing a simple meal may be a small gesture, but we hope that by getting people to share photos of their home-cooked meals, more of the social media communities who see these photos will be inspired to do the same, thereby further propagating the important message of family and social bonding.”

Start cooking for your family and post your pictures on instagram with the hashtags #sgsmd2013 and #cpfoodssg and stand to win prizes worth $2,200! Click on the above leaderboard link to find out more!

Thanks to CP Foods, 10 bloggers were chosen and sponsored with a wide range of food products to promote home cooking initiatives lead by Omy.sg. Easily whipped out 3 dishes and 1 soup in less than 40 minutes! I have chosen the above items to prepare that evening.

The famous shrimp wonton which never fails to appear on my reunion table every chinese new year.
Hi friends, we meet each other again. ;)

My mum got excited when she heard that I'm blogging for home-cooked food. She prepared the chicken mushroom soup earlier, and my job was to throw the shrimp wonton inside. Well done. Team Work. Haha.

One by one... here we go.

Next task was to prepare the chicken gyozas, instead of using any oil, we decided to go healthy and put into the grill toaster for grilling. When you stepped into the queen's territory, you have to kow tow and give in everything. Haha, she is in control !

We bought a grill toaster recently, Mother and Son figuring out how to use it. Because the Queen has misplaced the user manual. She thought her marketing engineer son knows everything in the world.

Sometimes, you can recognize that familiar backview of your loved ones easily...

Next, frying the CP Japanese Golden Crispy Chicken

Her eyes is all on me.. and the chicken. Haha. There's a woman behind every successful man. I'm lucky I have one behind and one beside taking pictures. ;)

CP Chicken Cake. Looks like our typical Ngoh Hiang.

Make sure the oil is boiling when you put in the chicken cake. Put your chopsticks to test, not your finger k.
If you see oil bubbles when the tip of the chopsticks touch the pan, it's hot enough to put the chicken cake.

To save time... we keep both the chicken cake and crispy chicken frying.

At the same time, Mum is preparing small garnishes.

Food is ready to be served! Japanese Crispy Chicken
