The countdown to 2012 at Marina Bay Singapore!

Sorry for the delay guys! Was busy with work , am still busy actually, rushing out this entry before I go to the office!

Last week, was finally at the countdown to 2012 at Marina Bay Singapore, reached there at about 7.30pm, and the crowd was crazy!

I was already having fun at Marina Bay Singapore!

The crowd at about 8pm...

The photographers were already getting ready for the fireworks at 12am!

The organizers had also put up bright neon signboards to get the crowd going...

Even the crews at the stalls were having fun and enjoying themselves yea...

Everyone one is in the mood to welcome new year 2012!

And walking down...I saw some of them has their own ways to kill boredom while waiting for the countdown... these kids brought along their own laptop and were playing computer games...

These teens were playing card games...

Some of them ordered pizzas...and sipping red wine under the moonlight...

These 3 guys here even had their own portable table and drinks...

The bikers here rode all the way to Marina Bay Singapore...

And some of them took it as a family gathering and was having a feast!

This couple was spotted waiting patiently for the fireworks...

Even small family gathering were made possible at Marina Bay Singapore!

There were also some fringe activities to keep the crowd busy...

Fireworks and Music worth 8 minutes long! Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012 Preview - Music and Lights Rehearsal

Counting down... are you ready for the New Year Celebration and countdown at Marina Bay Singapore later? I was there on Thursday to speak to the working crew and was very lucky to be able to catch the technical rehearsal, here showing you some sneak previews !

Dino, 34 years old.
Senior Technician Sound, 10 years experience

Dino told me that the "heart" of the team are mostly situated here, people incharged of lightings, stage manager, main coordinator, will be at the control station situated at the rooftop of the Esplanade. Apart from the main team, there also other crew members at the ground floor controlling the event. In case of any technical glitches, Dino and his team at the main control station will served as the redundancies - or better known as the back-up system.

The crew has been rehearsing since Tuesday, till about 1am. They are very confident that the backup system here will be able to function well, even if any technical glitches happen on the actual day. Looks like the team are all ready for the event itself!

They seriously have a team of experts and experienced crew working for this event. While you are celebrating the countdown of 2012 at Marina Bay Singapore tonight, remember the hardworking crew supporting this event!

Dino also mentioned that this year, there's going to be some difference in the fireworks music, composed by Iskandar Ismail. Unlike last year, the music was exactly the same as what was being heard on the radio. However, this year, Mr. Iskandar had given the working crew 20 stems of music separately, and the crew at the Esplanade will mix the different percussion according to their own "feel" . This also means that audiences at the Esplanade will get to listen to the "live" version of the music, controlled by the Esplanade crews!

You will be able to hear the music of the fireworks clearly, blasted from various speakers, around Marina Bay. However, according to Dino, to experience the best music for your listening pleasure, it's best to come down to the waterfront at the Esplanade! Oh btw, there will be 8 minutes long of music, together with fireworks played on the actual day countdown!

Countdown at the float with Mediacorp Channel 5! Free tickets to be given away!

Expect to see familiar faces like Gurmit Singh, Michelle Chia and 987FM's Divian & Jacqui, as they lead the crowd to celebrate the new year 2012! On top of that, Singapore Idols - Sezairi Sezali and Sylvia Ratonel, Sheikh Haikel, Nat Ho and Inch Chua will also be there too!

Doors will be opened from 7pm on 31 December 2011. Pre-show performances start at 8 pm to 10.45 pm. The `live' TV show is from 11 pm - 12.15 am, followed by the biggest dance party in Singapore with music by DJ Thryce and DJ Vault until 3am.

Hey guys, if you are driving down to Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012, please take note that certain roads will be closed at stipulated timings.Source: http://www.onemotoring.com.sg
So please avoid driving into this areas, or you may want to consider parking your car within walkable distance.

Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012 Survival Guide!

Counting down to 2012, 3 more days! As the date draw nearer to us, let's find out some places which you can capture good photos, and allow me to orientate you the event area!

Before we moved on, while I was looking through some information on the web, found this video which was still on youtube. Probably you will like to check out Marina Bay Countdown Singapore 2011 highlights here! Was there last year together with my team, Fifth Avenue to cover the event!

The most important thing that you must bear in mind is the ease of accessibility to Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012. My advised is that, don't drive, take the public transport. Don't worry, having the same dialect surname as Saw Phaik Hwa doesn't mean that I'm promoting SMRT. Haha, but seriously right from the bottom from my heart. Trust me, I was there last year. There will be 4 MRT stations available, but, the one nearest to Marina City Bay Gallery will be Marina Bay MRT station. Best place to capture firework pictures. =)

And most importantly, I will be stationed at Marina Bay City Gallery to give "live" updates on my twitter on 31st Dec 2011 : http://twitter.com/kevinskh , follow me as I bring you the latest updates on the countdown event! Also, I will be giving away free mediacorp countdown tickets at the float. You need to know where am I to collect your tickets yea. Haha.

Marina Bay City Gallery
This place is open to the public and there's an interactive 3D map of the Marina Bay skyline. It's pretty unique and you can get to know Marina Bay better.

The Water Fountain
It's just located outside the Marina Bay City Gallery.
A pretty nice spot for many who enjoy taking pictures with family and friends. Now you don't have to travel all the way to Marina Barrage! There's one at Marina Bay too!

The Mist Walk
As the name suggests, this metal pipe structure gives off mist when the sensor detects someone is there. It's just less than 100m away from the Marina Bay City Gallery.

Breeze Shelters
Tired? Need a resting spot? Well, these breeze shelters has really gigantic fans attached to it, making sure that the restless souls will be energize again! Well, but the cooling weather these days, I don't think you will really need it right?

The Promontory @ Marina Bay
On New Year's Eve, there are various activities out there which will keep you entertained. It's free!
Check out performances like Happy 3+65 New Year's Eve Countdown Show from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and Rhythms by the Bay with FM Pop Music School from 9.30pm to 12.00am.

If you intend to come from Raffles Place MRT, locate exit J, and look for the sign along the way. It will be an estimated 10 - 15min walk, but it will lead you to actual event area. Have a dinner in the Marina link mall, and walk abit to digest your food!

Here's the map in Marina Link Mall. As I've said, it's abit of distance from the MRT to The Promontory exit....one end to the other... print this out if you're afraid of getting lost!

Alright, after the picture trail around Marina Bay area, let me introduce to you some good spot which family can lay their picnic mats to catch up with one another, and photographers can locate to take excellent firework pictures.

Spot 1: Big and spacious. Suitable for the families who need to find a place to sit down and relax.

Spot 2: Not sure if this place will be accessible to the public on New Year's Eve. But it's a good spot for many to view the fireworks!

Spot 3: Good Spot for photographers to capture highlights of the fireworks. Look at the photographers in the picture...ahha.

Spot 4: Just a nice spot to view the night scene of Singapore...

HTC Sensation XE - Beats Audio Branded Smartphone

Thanks to HTC Singapore & Omy.sg, had the chance to review HTC Sensation XE! HTC Sensation XE comes with Beats Audio headphones, and when my colleagues and friends know about this, the first thing that many told me was, "Better keep your headphones in a safe place!" This headphone easily cost about SGD$200++ at retail price.

Am used to having wide screen phones. I find the HTC Sensation XE, 4.3inch display just nice for me. Especially useful for me to check and send my emails, facebook, and watching youtube videos too. Now personally as someone who's working in the marketing line and have to meet my client often, having a wide screen phone also allow me to have certain "status" in bringing out the smartphone. =)

(Please ignore my jeans at the background!) The cover of the HTC Sensation XE also comes with beatsaudio logo yea. The size is good for me to carry around as well, sleek design also allow me to put into my pocket easily. You know, especially for guys, we hate to have so many stuff in our pockets, that is why most of us like to carry our wallet instead of tucking into our back pockets. ;)

I was using HTC Sensation initially, the size of the phone is the same, just that the touch buttons at the bottom are of different color. HTC Sensation XE bears daring and striking red buttons, unlike the normal HTC Sensation with white key buttons. On the camera, there's also a red finishing along the edge which does not appear in the normal sensation phone. And as you can see in the picture above, HTC Sensation XE(left) has a better color screen resolution as compared to HTC Sensation(right).

On performance wise, I find that HTC Sensation XE was faster, and much smoother when running games and other applications. The result could be due to the difference in the processor's speed between the two phones, the Sensation XE’s processor is clocked at 1.5GHz – up from 1.2GHz. However, the RAM for both is the same at 768 MB RAM and both devices support microSD card slots that can handle up to 32GB.

The 8 megapixel camera and the different effects of the camera function adds wonder to pictures. Take a look at the above picture I've taken with my colleagues.By the way, was CK (guy in white, sitting) farewell lunch. Before effect, you can clearly see that the picture was already rather clear, and the resolution is good enough to be developed from your nearby photoshop outlets.

Look at the effects I have created using HTC Sensation XE functions! Actually, the HTC Sensation XE camera effects function has no difference compared to it's predecessor. Both are able to add wonders to the pictures within one single touch!

And next, I can easily bluetooth these set of pictures to my computer for viewing!

HTC Sensation XE also has the friendstream widget, which conveniently synchronize all your friends updates from twitter and facebook. I can now view the updates easily! Within a one easy view! On top of that, I can also update my own status both on facebook and twitter within one single step. However, the widget also allows one to update his/her status either on one of the social media platform, rather than both.

In addition, I can also choose between Airplane mode, activate my Wi-Fi or Hotspot within a single touch too! Seriously, HTC Sensation XE is so user-friendly! Making my life easier yea!

Also, the "people favourites" function also allow me to reach out to my love ones, more easily and conveniently. =)

When listening to music on HTC sensation XE, I can also choose if I want to enable beats audio. Seriously, it really, really make hell lots of difference. Enabling beats audio allow the music to be more enhanced with greater definition, and you can now listen to every beats of the music clearer now.

Counting down to 2012 @ Marina Bay Singapore, 5 more days! I'm so sorry that I've been lagging in my posts, was away for business trip. Will start my engine really fast this few days, stay tune as I bring you what to expect at countdown 2012 this year!

So William and myself was along the street at Orchard Road, together with volunteers from Sgcares, to collect wishes from the public...

The volunteers were mostly 18 and below... *sign* We are getting old... LOL.

Many of them started blowing using their own effort instead of using the air pump, according to them, it's easier and faster...

Culinary and Dining Session with Celebrity Chef, Eric Teo!

Thanks to Yit Hong Pte Ltd, I had the chance to cook and dine with Celebrity Chef Eric, at ToTT Store.

Celebrity Chef Eric Teo is also Yit Hong Pte Ltd's brand ambassador. He was there to share with us some cooking tips and recipes!

Very friendly guy indeed. Chef Eric, also the first Singaporean to be appointed president of the Singapore Chef's Association, seen here, giving advices to fellow bloggers.

I was late due to work commitments! Luckily Yit Hong's Business Development Executive, Jacqualine Chan, was there to guide me along. Beside both of us is Chef Eric's wife.

1st Dish - XO King Scallop with Spicy Golden Mushrooms & Crispy Rice Crackers

Ingredients:
YIFON Spicy Golden Mushrooms (170g) , drained
King Scallops - 2 pc
Rice Crackers - 2pc
XO Sauce - 1 tsp
Spring Onions, sliced
Red Chilli, diced
Sesame Oil

Method:
1. Heat up wok over medium to high heat with oil
2. Pan-fry scallops for 30 secs on each side, add XO sauce and toss well
3. Separately, mix YIFON Spicy Golden Mushrooms with chilli and sesame oil.
4. Assemble YIFON Spicy Golden Mushrooms with scallops and rice crackers as shown, sprinkle spring onions and serve.

Here's the 2nd dish, Pork Luncheon Meat Bruchetta! Making using of Maling Pork Luncheon Meat!

Ingredients:
1. Maling Pork Luncheon Meat - 2 slices
2. French Baguette, Sliced - 2 pcs
3. Quail Eggs, hard-boiled and halved - 4
4. Red Cherry Tomatoes, halved
5. Shallot, sliced
6. Sweet Basil Leaves
7. Pineapples, diced

Seasonings
1. Olive Oil , 2tbsp
2. Black Crushed Pepper, 1 pinch
3. Salt, 1 pinch

Method:
1. Slice Maling Pork Luncheon Meat. Pan-fry until both sides are crisp and brown. Set Aside
2. Toast slice baguettes for 3 mins.
3. Mix hard boiled eggs, pineapples, tomatoes, sweet basil leaves, shallots and seasonings.
4. Top toasted baguette with luncheon meat and above mixture. Serve

Baking in process...

My Pizza! Woo Hoo! The "simi mawu" Pizza! (Hokkien, everything also have)

Ingredients:

1. YIFON Assorted Mushrooms, drained (1/2 bottle)
2. Pizza Crust
3. Tomato Sauce
4. Red Onions, diced
5. Turkey Ham
6. Cheddar Cheese
7. Maling Pork Luncheon Meat, diced
8. Prawns
9. Olive oil
10. Salt
11. Pepper

Method:
1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degree Celsius, bake pizza crust for 3 mins. The pizza crust should be golden brown, but soft in the center.
2. Spread tomato sauce evenly, top with YIFON Assorted Mushrooms, ham, prawn, cheese, Maling Pork Luncheon Meat.
3. Drizzle olive oil, salt and pepper. Bake for another 7 mins then serve hot.

Had an early Xmas with the sec sch kakis 八仙 group, less 1仙 Suhui, who was sick on that day.

It also happened to be Ferry's farewell dinner, this foreign talent is returning to Indonesia for good. All the best to him!

Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012 - Behind the Scene of Video Dedications

Very glad to be working with Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) once again to cover Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2012 celebration! Please watch here for more updates, as I bring you some activities that lead up to the big day! Apart from this, I will also be bringing you what to expect in this year celebration! URA and omy.sg had put together a series of events for the 5 official bloggers to take part, and we will bring you lots of interesting post! The 5 bloggers were invited to take part in the video dedications recording at esplanade. William and myself were group together (cause I was late due to work commitments). While waiting for William, I was sipping coffee at one of the f'n'b outlets at esplanade...

Time was already close to 7pm... look at the evening clouds!

Apart from the bloggers' video dedications, the cheerleading group from City Harvest Church was there to join us as well.

Was speaking to one of their members, and found out that the youngest in this group was 16, and the oldest was 25. Many of them are equipped with a strong foundation. The youngest in the team has already been training for 7 years!

As an observer, seriously, not easy to be a cheer leader yea. It's not an individual effort, it requires everyone to work as a team to bring out the success.

Thanks to Singha Singapore, was invited to the Singha Full Moon Party 2011 together with some other Bosch colleagues! Party started at 9.30pm, and free flow of Singha beer from 10pm till 11pm...

Thanks to the restaurant manager, who had distributed Ang Paos to everyone, with a small note on the meanings of each ingredient, here sharing with everyone...

Deep fried pork belly marinated with preserved bean curd

Though as rojak as it can be, with century egg served as side dish, but it turn out to be a great dish. The Q-ness in the pork belly was just nice for me, but take note when introducing this dish to the elderly, some may not have the strength to chew on the meat!

Smoked Sugar Prawn Chicken

Chicken was tender, very different from what we usually eat in Singapore. Not only Hainanese chicken rice rule the world, Lol. Mixed it with the special sauce, and gives the overall taste a bonus point.

Steamed Sea Bream with Pickled Mustard Plant and Roast Pork

Fish was so-so for me. But I guess if the fish was mixed with the Roast Pork it could give a richer taste to the dish. But too bad, I rushed out to take a picture with the Chef and missed out the roast pork in the dish...was too late!

Wonder who's the big chef ?

He's none other than 何添财师傅, Chef Ho, from Taiwan. He had appeared in several local TV productions! A very friendly chef with no airs, but I'm very amused by his strong Taiwanese accent...

The next dish was a "Surprise Dish" by the chef... first look, I thought was Buddha Jump Over the wall... and thought my trial was damn worthwhile! (Opps, that SamPat look)

That slight yellow shine... came from fellow blogger Deenise who was taking her picture at the same time. Lol... not that general shine from this dish harh.

Okay... so the waiter lifted off the porcelain cover... hmm, nothing much right.

But when he started serving us, I realized it was a wrong judgement! Heard from 何师傅, Chef Ho, he had actually spent more than 8 hours in brewing this soup. Very rich in the ingredients, and will help in improving the overall appearance and beauty. It was a 家传秘方, hereditary dish from Chef Ho's Mum to him, but he added that of course, he cooked better than his Mum!

Glutinous Rice Dumpling on Ice

This was my favourite.
I remember from young, we had always eaten Glutinous Rice Dumpling in hot, peanut soup from the famous Ah Balling. But this was actually my first time eating it served cold. Very unique, and the ice melted in honey water, every sip down the throat you could feel the sweetness, representing the Chinese saying, "甜甜蜜蜜", harmonies and happiness.

Chef Ho mentioned that every coloring of the Glutinous Rice Dumpling were natural, no additives. Red/Pink color was made from dragonfruit, orange color was made from pumkin, as for the white... I'm sorry, I missed the details. Probably you wanna check out the dumplings and taste it yourself!

Another surprise dish was the nonya kuehs! Reminds me of the nonya show featuring Jeanette Aw only. Of course didn't had the chance to savor every single piece, but just by taking one piece was good enough! Need to reserve my stomach for Xmas feast later!

Dessert overdose! But the Nonya Kuehs was good lah.

Next stop, we took a coach and was dropped at Mandarin Orchard hotel, level 35 ballroom.

*Behind the scene* Heard one of the Wanbao helpers were saying, they got down the bus and shouted, "Everyone! Please proceed to level 53!"
Heng arh, thank god I wasn't on the same coach as them. LoL.
I think that bus of people didn't 捞 their 鱼生 enough lah. "Hiak-ni-sway" harh.

Immediately change of festive mood! Xmas in the air! *We wish you a merry christmas...we wish you a merry christmas~ *

Everyone was given a xmas hat, christmas deco, giving the overall xmas feel a bonus touch!

Elle Awards 2011 was held at Avalon @ Marina Bay Sands on Thursday, 17th November 2011.
Many fasionistas & celebrities were there to grace the occasion, was there together with Huimin to witness the event, thanks for the invitation yea.

The theme was red...hmm, but not many dress up according to the theme yea. Lol.

Breakout star of the year award goes to George Young, heard that he had many online votes as well. Pornsak had also won the Host of the year award. Congratulations!

There was also a fashion show featuring the Spring/Summer 2011 collections of koonhor and Raoul, paired with Swarovski eyewear and jewellery.

This year’s Fiesta was at Custom’s House Pavilion and was paired with the sparkling harbour view over the waterfront. A light and welcoming atmosphere, the Fiesta was definitely a casual rare chance to speak and sip with international winemakers.

Visited Biscuit King, at Casuarina Road sometime back. The moment you enter the shop, there's a nostalgic feeling, bringing you back to your childhood days...

Used to buy this when I was younger. Toy + Biscuit, doesn't it make a great combi?

Some of the old card games which we used to play especially during Primary school days, sometimes waiting for school bus, or during "recess time", or after exams... "SNAP!"

Not forgetting these country erasers, used to play this during change of period...or when there's a relief teacher around and would tell you the standard phrase , " Class, do your own things."

Many of my friends didn't play this before. But these were my toys when I was younger, compared to my peers who had mini computer games.

Damn hard to find this balloon blowing stuff nowadays. I wonder did the government ban it or something due to the "gum-alike" smell?

These were my breakfast or even lunch when I was younger... someone told me recently that it only cost 30cents in the past!

Biscuit King sells these sour stuff too...

And some childhood sweets which we can get many with 50cents, at provision shops when I was younger...

I remember eating the pineapple tarts infront of the tv when I was younger. Probably that contributes to my "overweight syndrome" in primary school days. Lol.

Okay, it's been exactly one month from my birthday. A little late, but better late than never yea!
Thanks to everyone who had spent your precious time to make my 25th a good one!

Thanks to the citibankers, S.G.A.X - Serling, Gina, Alvin and Xiuli...celebrated at Chomp Chomp, and ended with a dessert at dessert bowl... liked the simplicity, it wasn't a costly meal, but it was the companionship that matters. =)

It was Alvin's 24th bday as well..

The girls got us a very unique lychee cake... =) 有心了！

Followed by birthday celebration with NTU engineering friends... really was a surprised. Initially planned to celebrate with Shoel at waraku, and when I opened the door, saw the engineers waiting for me. Was totally so surprised that I kept mumbling "oh my god" , "oh my god" . Thanks to Cheng Siong who was secretly coordinating all this together with Shoel. Kam Dong Zuay Zuay lah!

And after that...of course I had my private time with my dearest. Haha, thanks for the present and accompanying me when the clock strikes 12. Though I have already told you, but I still want to repeat this again, really appreciate what you had done! <3 It was a night, full of surprises. Lol.

On the actual day, celebrated my birthday with Mum, the one who had brought me up since the last 25 years. *sings* How can I leave without you~ Haha. And the next day... the "Bu Ah Kias" (slang in Ang Moh Tone) flew to Bangkok! Sa Wa Dee Krup!

And had a meet-up with Sophia, Justin, Song Wei and Priscilla. Was a birthday treat for Pris and myself at a Turkish restaurant @ Bussorah Street... sorry guys, had a bad gastric that day and didn't really eat much. Appreciate your thoughts and special thanks to Justin for putting this up, despite our busy schedule!

And the last birthday treat comes from the 八仙 group... trust me, it was even harder to fix our 8 persons' schedules! Ended up only 7 came, Sharmen, another birthday boy can't make it. Had our dinner at Foster @ Holland V, and ended with dessert at cold rock. We have came a long way since secondary school, and everytime we meet up there will be never ending conversations, thanks for meeting up once again!

Okay... last but not least, also wanna thank my colleagues in Bosch for your wishes, sms/whatsapp/fb msg/twitter from all my friends! *90 degrees bow* Thanks for making my a quarter century old a good one! =)

Exploring Circle Line - Map In English and Chinese

Explored the new stations on circle line last Saturday together with Shoel.
Anyway created this map in both English and Chinese, for our seniors who aren't able to read and converse in English. Hope this helps. ;)

We started out with Caldecott station first, was quite curious where was it actually located...

Nice, tranquil place... probably is a newly open up area. You can count the cars on the road easily with your fingers.

If you walk down the shelter, Goodwood florist and MacRitchie Reservoir are just around the corner.

Series of jumpshots... kudos to Shoel for having the patience. Haha.

Then, I started out planking. Boys, will be boys. Lol. I'm a GROWN-UP boy. Haha!

We found this mural at the station while waiting for our train...

Kind of interesting though, because it features the recollections of some Singaporeans. Those were the days...

Next place we explored was Botanic Gardens station. As usual, I was curious where the hell is this station. End up it was just opposite Cluny Court, where you can find relish by wildrocket. And within walking distance, you can also locate serene center, in which the famous Ice Cream place, Island Creamery can be found!

The MRT station is also located just beside Botanic Garden entrance...

But mind you...the park is so big that you have to take 30mins to walk to the main area. That's like my walking time from marymount to Ang Mo Kio! Oh man.

We can't imagine ourselves walking for 30mins to the main area, and spend another 30mins walking back... haha. So we decided to move on to the next one... One North!

Well, this station is perhaps more for those working in this building. Coming out of the station will lead you to an office tower...

In which you can find some food and drinks stall, such as starbucks etc. But mind you, the shops close as early as around 8+ on weekends. Boring.

We tried to explore around one-north station, but around the area are pretty much industrial area. So... we didn't spend much time there either.

Head on to our last station... HARBOUR FRONT! Not to explore the place, but to have our dinner!

Sa Wa Dee Krup. Back from the land of all smiles. This is the 3rd time I'm visiting Thailand again, but this time round, with Mum. Mum told me her last overseas trip was 15 years ago. I know I've did my part as a son when you see her getting excited on the plane, looking out of the windows, pointing at the clouds, like a kid...

When I was young...she held my hands to explore Thailand...
Years later... I put out my hand to hold on to her arms, and guided her along. We had switched our roles, but the power of love remains.

We were at Grand Palace...

And it cost us 400bhat per person... around 20 SGD

Was also at Local Chinatown and saw Thai Celebrity in action...

Not forgetting floating market...

Mum had phobia sitting in the speed boat... and had to put my hand around her shoulders to assure her everything is fine with me around yea.

Mum and I also visited some handicrafts stall as well...

Really impressed with the local people...

This old man here crafted these 2 huge statues all by himself! Respect.

Apart from sightseeing, needless to say, we also visited MBK shopping centre and Platinum Fashion Mall. Wanted to visit Suan Lum night market, but sadly, it was closed down already.

Was a good trip, and bring both of us closer.

Attended Tatsumi Gala Premiere last weekend together with Shoel, @ GV Grand.Was really a great pleasure to meet the director, Eric Khoo and Yoshihiro Tatsumi San, the artist who gave life to the characters in the movie.

Synopsis:

TATSUMI celebrates the life and work of Japanese comics artist Yoshihiro Tatsumi. In post-war occupied Japan, young Tatsumi’s passion for comics eventually becomes a means of supporting his poor family. Already published as a teenager, talented Tatsumi finds even greater inspiration after meeting his idol,famous Disneyesque animator Osamu Tezuka. Despite his steady success, Tatsumi begins to question why Japanese comics should cater to children with cute and whimsical tales and drawings. In 1957,Tatsumi coins the term gekiga (dramatic pictures) and redefines the manga landscape by encouraging an alternative genre for adults. Realistic and disquieting, Tatsumi’s work begins to grapple with the darker aspects of life…

In the late 1950s, Yoshiro Tatsumi pioneered a breakthrough in Japanese comics, elevating the genre to a whole new level of creative expression influenced by adult themes. A tribute to an artist who sought to make comics cinematic, Eric Khoo’s animated feature TATSUMI brings the manga legend’s classic stories to the big screen for the first time.

" I have been a massive fan of the short stories of Yoshihiro Tatsumi for over two decades
and I was overwhelmed after reading his 800-page autobiography, “A Drifting Life”. His life story was inspirational. I was extremely moved by the love and passion he has for his craft, and the trials and tribulations he went through in pursuit of it. At the back of the lovingly illustrated tome, I saw a photograph of the man himself, resting his cheeks in his palms. For many nights after that, his face appeared in my mind and I felt restless… and inspired. I felt compelled to re-read his short stories that were written in the late sixties and seventies. And the sense of wonderment and awe that enveloped me when I first read them all those years ago returned. Not only is Yoshihiro Tatsumi a consummate storyteller, he is also a brutally astute and honest observer of love, life and the human condition. And these observations remain as haunting and disturbing today. " - Mr. Eric Khoo

Pay special attention to the music in this movie... because it's composed by Mr. Eric Khoo's 13 year old son, Christopher!

According to Mr. Khoo, the stories used in TATSUMI are an example of how adult-oriented his
work was then, and very risqué for the 70s. They were far from the usual kiddie manga fare. These stories were so controversial and shocked many back then. But there was also a growing number of alternative readers who fell in love with the stories he was telling in true gekiga fashion. Even writer Yukio Mishima was a fan of this new bold form of storytelling.

" .... I had hit the wall and was out of ideas until a friend passed me Mr. Tatsumi’s book Good -bye . I read it in one sitting. I was totally inspired and I was able to churn out all the stories for my book in two weeks...." - Mr. Eric Khoo

"....I love Mr. Tatsumi’s characters because they tend to be so everyday and
realistic. There is something so dark and sad and beautiful in his work. And there is so much creativity riding through his very original story lines that are timeless because they deal with the human condition in a very unique way. I love how the intriguing story of Hell unfolds, slowly sucking you in. Beloved Monkey is probably the saddest story in the collection, and it happens to be Mr. Tatsumi’s favourite story featured in the film. Just a Man has everything all rolled up into one – humour, grief, drama. The protagonist in this story is a sad loser that you just want to champion for. The idea of being inspired by pornographic graffiti in Occupied really got me going! I think that Tatsumi’s Good -bye is the boldest and hardest story of them all. It is beautifully tragic and twisted. Because of its impact on me when I first read it over two decades ago, I decided to leave it as the last story for the film...." - Director, Mr. Eric Khoo

Mr. Eric Khoo wanted Tatsumi san to do the voiceover for his life chapters as he felt that this would give more meaning and also it could cover more ground from Tatsumi san's heart. He’s a very shy and humble man, so it took a lot of nagging for him to agree. Japanese actor Tetsuya Bessho brought the film to another level with his incredible voice projections. He’s a very versatile theatre actor as well, and thus he was able to play many roles: two characters in Hell – the lead and the sick son, the lead in Beloved monkey , the narrator for Just a Man , and the lead in Occupied , as well as the publisher who fires him.

Personally, Tatsumi gave me another approach to animae. The theme would suit more appropriate for the mature audiences, who's able to give some thoughts to the story after the movie. Some of the short stories actually outline some problems that occur in society today, and many times, the downfall is brought about by many negligences.

Out of the few short stories, I will go for "Hell" .
Overall, giving this show 3 out of 5 stars. =)

About the Artist:

Yoshihiro Tatsumi, born in 1935, is a Japanese comics artist who is credited with founding the gekiga style of alternative adult comics in Japan, having coined the term in 1957. Gekiga (literally “dramatic pictures”) evolved and found mainstream acceptance by the 1970s, and has greatly influenced the manga landscape and comics artistry worldwide. The New York Times has hailed Tatsumi as “one of Japan’s most important visual artists“, and Time Magazine described his work as “tales of desperation that achieve a poetic sense of despair”. His work has been translated into 17 languages. In 2010, Tatsumi’s autobiographic graphic novel, “A Drifting Life“, won him multiple Eisner Awards, one of the comics world’s highest honors. His monumental memoir begins with his experiences as a child in Osaka and follows him growing up as part of a
country burdened by the shadows of World War II. Spanning fifteen years, from 1945 to 1960, the book chronicles how, as a child, Tatsumi had to face his father’s financial burdens and his parents’ failing marriage, his jealous brother’s deteriorating health, and the innumerable obstacles that awaited him in the competitive manga market. He dreams of following in the giant footsteps of his idol, manga artist Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy), with whom Tatsumi eventually became peers and, at times, stylistic rivals. As a boy, Yoshihiro Tatsumi loved movies and harboured ambitions of becoming a director. But he preferred to sit alone facing a
wall, making the stories that he dreamt up come alive on paper. Tatsumi’s imagination was constantly stirred and inspired by the many movies he saw, and by the mystery novels he read. This spurred him to experiment with frames, perspectives and angles in his comics, to imbue psychological and dramatic depth to characters and stories. Classic Tatsumi collections include “Black Blizzard”, “Good-Bye and Other Stories”, “Abandon the Old in Tokyo” and “The Push Man and Other Stories”.

About the Director:

TATSUMI marks Eric Khoo’s return to Cannes after his last feature MY MAGIC was presented in Competition in 2008. Eric put Singapore on the international film map with his first feature film MEE POK MAN (1995), picking up prizes at Fukuoka, Pusan and Singapore. His second feature 12 STOREYS (1997) won several awards including the Golden Maile Award for Best Picture at the 17th Hawaii International Film Festival. 12 STOREYS was also the first Singaporean film to be invited officially to participate in the Cannes Film Festival. MEE POK MAN and 12 STOREYS have together been screened at over 60 film festivals, including Venice, Berlin and Rotterdam. Eric’s third feature BE WITH ME was selected as the opening film for the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes 2005. The film has since won several awards overseas and has been invited to numerous festivals, including Toronto, Telluride and Pusan. In 2006 Eric was invited to direct for the Jeonju Digital Film Festival in Korea – No Day Off , the story of an Indonesian maid. Eric is a recipient of Singapore’s highest arts honor: the Cultural Medallion by the President, and in 2008, he was awarded the “Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des letters” from the French Minister of Culture. Since 2007, Eric has been a board member of NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia.

Finally...after 4 years, I've graduated from NTU, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

All thanks to this wonderful person in the world, who had sacrificed most for me. She's none other than my mum. Bringing me up all by herself since I was seven, was definitely not easy for her. I want to thank my mum for seriously, EVERYTHING. When I was young, she's the one who would give up her drumstick for me. She's the one who button up my primary one school uniform, she's the one who taught me how to tie my shoelaces, she's the one who hit me hard on my knuckles with a recorder when I went rebellious.She's the one who gave me continuous support in life when my friends gave up on me...Without her, I wouldn't be able to be who I am, today. Sometimes, when I hear people complain about their parents, complain about how they don't want to stay with their parents after getting married... seriously, I think these people haven't really grown up....

TWISTED (撞鬼) movie preview - In Cinemas 28th July 2011

Attended Twisted, 撞鬼 Singapore Gala Premiere last Saturday at Shaw Lido Cineplex.

A horror-comedy directed by Director Chai Yee Wai (Blood Ties).Cast include local actor/comedian Mark Lee (李国煌), veteran actress Mimi Chu (朱咪咪), Taiwanese singer/actor Linda Liao (廖语晴), Cavin Soh, Randall Tan and many more!

Synopsis:

The story of TWISTED revolves around a drug dealer who impregnated a girl, a pair of conmen who wants to turn over a new leaf and 4 cabin crews whose lives were turned upside down over a fateful night of drugs and booze:

Guan (starring Mark Lee) is a flashy, womanizing drug dealer. It was during one of his many flings that he’d knocked up Mimi (starring Candy Lim), who turned obsessive in getting his attention which led to a fatal end. Guan’s ruthless way unknowingly unleashed the devil in Mimi…

Through Guan, two horny cabin crew, Cavin and Randall (starring Cavin Soh, Randall Tan) got their hands on some drugs. Their game plan was to spike the drinks of their colleagues, Linda and Tracy (starring Linda Liao, Tracy Lee) during a night out at the club. Anxious to get fresh of the girls, the eager duo stumbled upon a freak accident. The incident soon snowballed and led to a series of unfortunate happenings, bringing about a display of animalistic survival instinct.

Fa (starring Zhu Mimi) and her daughter, Yi Ning (starring Joey Leong) were victims of her abusive husband. Unable to tolerate the abuse and traumas, Fa killed her husband. The vengeful spirit of her husband swiftly possessed Yi Ning to create harvoc. To save her daughter, she seeks the help of two mediums, who further complicate the issue.

Among these seemingly unrelated characters, their paths crossed and intertwined… Somehow, ill-luck seems to transcend the characters.

This is a story of individuals with fates intertwined and their paths collided. A series of twisted events that is a study on cause and effect and how our actions affect the people around us.

Personally find that this is not a typical horror film, but added with some sense of humor to give the crowd a twisted feeling before the audience could sense a shudder down the spine.

There were some violent scene involved... so Parental Guidance is strongly encouraged...

There is a link to the short stories, and I guessed the director could have created the theme of the movie, Twisted, by mixing up the sequence. So...what actually happens? You gotta hit the cinema this weekend to find it out yourself!

Give the movie probably 2.5 out of 5 stars!

In Square Salon Review - Hair Sculpt Treatment

Went to In Square Salon last week for hair sculpt treatment. It's especially good for those who constantly apply hair products such as hair wax and gel, hair spray. It's just like putting a face mask on your face, but this is like a mask for your hair sculpt, giving rise to healthy hair follicles!

After hair massage, it's heat treatment! Nah, don't be afraid of this hugh "helmet" .

About 20 minutes of heat treatment, Serene helped to wash away the mask. If you wonder why there's foam on my face, haha... caused I asked for "Extra" service. Nah, not what you're thinking of. But In Square Salon also provides simple face cleansing service, at only $4! Not those hardcore facial where squeezing of black and white heads are involved... but just a simple one. I find it extremely relaxing when Serene helps to massage my face during the cleansing. So comfortable that you can forget about all your stress at work/school!

Hong kong shopper contest. A contest organized by omy.sg and Hong Kong tourism board. Contest started since yesterday and we have to come up with ideas on fashion trends related to the theme. Each blogger was attached to a team of 2 from the public. And so we drew lots... the theme was 中环 - Central. Based on the location in HongKong, we have to come up with design an outfit that suits this theme. Understand from HKTB that Central is actually a business district, which most of them will be dressed in corporate attire

Our final decision...we will be going into corporate attire, but in the most fashionable way. =)

Today...we began our shopping tour in Singapore Chinatown, and mind you, we have to work within a budget of $50. For most guys, we all know its almost impossible to spend within $50 on formal wear, even our shirt can cost as much as $70++. So...we have come out with our creative way to make our idea work!

Though I'm quite lucky that I can stay away from the once a month 大姨妈, but something still bother me like every 2 - 3 weeks? My hair! Probably I'm a meat lover, my hair grows at an incredible speed. I'm so glad that I can trust and leave my hair to In Square Salon . Seen here with Serene, who's damn good in hair and simple facial wash . After a long day at work, she's the person I will go to (apart from my girlfriend), to give me a relaxing peace of mind.

Thanks to omy.sg and Far East Square... I spent my Saturday afternoon at 45 Pekin Street, embarking on a food trail together with some bloggers from omyblog club. Not only did I have the chance to explore some authentic dishes, but I had also expanded my social circle by knowing more blogging enthusiast!

The first stop was Zhou's Kitchen... but I was late, so by the time I reached...

My poor Pork Shank was already reduced to this state. Never underestimate the bloggers. Seriously, many could have starved themselves for 3 days 3 nights before this...

Okay, to be a more responsible blogger, I went to Zhou's Kitchen to find out more. Here's a better picture. Haha. I hope Zhou's Kitchen's bosses won't come after me for tarnishing their reputation... well, but it must be really so good that the bloggers finished the pork shank so fast!

Zhou's Kitchen features all-time Chinese favourites, as well as well-loved private recipes of the Zhou family. These include the Pansit ( "Xing Hua" Dumplings) , "Xing Hua" style Traditional Home-made Noodles, "Fujian" style Meat Roll (Wu Xiang), and Steamed Clutinous Rice with Crab, which are all regular dishes on the Zhou family's dining table.

Next, we moved on to Spring, Ju Chun Yuan.

At the entrance, you are welcomed by the traditional architecture, every stroke of the carvings depicts a strong sense of Chinese culture.

This refreshing tea makes a good combination with the dishes served.

Hmm... so what has captured these ladies' attention?

Yes...that's it. Ju Chun Yuan's , Buddha jump over the wall. It costs $1288! An auspicious number harh.

The scallop is as big as an average human's thumb!

It is said that during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, a Fouzhou county treasury official hosted a dinner at home for Fujian Provincial Governor Zhou Lian. Cooking personally, the official's wife stewed chicken, duck, pork and several types of seafood in an earthen wine jar and came up with a delectable main course. The governor found it so delicious that he praised it profusely....

As time goes by ... Buddha Jump over the wall is a rich combination of shark's fin, abalone, scallop, sea cucumber, fish maw, cuttlefish, pork tendon, flower mushroom and other ingredients.

Ju Chun Yuan's Buddha Jump over the wall's soup base was thick, what I heard from the Chef was that a total of 4 hours was used to prepare the base!

We were also served the following dish... the noodles were not too dry, just nice. And most importantly when it goes into your mouth, the ingredients and noodles mixed together so well that it gives an overall effect.

The chicken was very tender, and the specialty lies with the blue ginger floss. But if there's a bowl of rice, I'm quite sure both will make me fly high. Next Stop: Shin Kushiya

By now, it's as if we were trying out a fusion of Asian food. We've arrived at Shin Kushiya for Jap food! "Kushiyaki" is the Japanese term for 'Charcoal-grilled skewers". In Japan, it is common to find the locals enjoying rounds of Sake and Kushiyaki with good company...

As usual, we were served with a drink before the main course. Here we had Yuzu cooler, but remember to mix well before you drink!

The main course was the Kushiyaki dishes... We had Ebi Shiso Maki, Buta Bara Yaki Miso, Black pepper yakitori, Tomato Maki. I could still vividly remember how the tomato juices fills my mouth when I gave it an initial bite. Super juicy. To be frank, I'm a carnivore, and I usually don't take any veggies which include tomato. But Shin Kushiya was able to convince me and for someone who's not a veggie lover to say this... you really got to believe it. The Ebi was really fresh, you could really feel the Q-ness in the prawn. Top quality food! Don't forget to dip your Buta Bara Yaki Miso and Black Pepper Yakitori into the special curry salt and plum salt. You pay one price for 3 different flavours! Original, curry and plum! Oh...and one more thing, the meat is quite lean, don't have to worry about my fitness regime much. Lol.

The last dish at Shin Kuishinya was the Kuro Goma Heaven. As the name suggest, the moment you pop the dessert into your mouth, you could really feel that you http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifwere in heaven. (*Plays Ha Lei Loo Ya....)

This special sesame flavored ice cream is very different from those we normally eat in Singapore. Mixed with the waffled biscuit and extra sesame cream, the effect was WOW. Fireworks in your mouth! Not too sweet, just nice. =)

HTC incredible S... blending into my life, Warning - read AFTER meals.

HTC Incredible S has slowly blend into my life... especially when I'm traveling from one place to another. The build in function FM radio keeps me updated with the latest news, music records from our local radio stations...

CLASS 95... my preset channel. I can be quite a boring chap, sometimes tuning into News Radio 93.8fm too. Haha. (I'm serious)

Apart from plucking in those ear phones, with the bookmarks widget, I'm able to surf my favourite websites easily on the go!

Another widget available for me to browse easily, emails. Synchronizing all my mails from gmail, hotmail, everything at one go. Sometimes, I really want to take a nap on bus, but HTC Incredible S has simply too many stuff for me to explore ! Really get my fingers busy all day!

Nowadays, I don't bring my digicam around. With HTC Incredible S, 8 megapixels shot, I can just easily slot the sleek phone into my jeans. It's damn convenient! Well, it makes no different from the digicam I'm using. Look at the 8 colorful xiao long baos, drooling now? Save it, cause more food pictures captured by HTC Incredible S coming up!

Ranging from Ginseng, Cheese, Garlic, Original, Spicy, and many more. Worth the try... =) But original is always the safest choice.

Seafood La Mian. $15++ Fresh prawns, scallops, crap meat. And best thing was the noodles, man-made, instead of machine. Trust me, you can taste the different. Thumbs up!

Cold Tofu with Century Egg. A simple dish, but the combination of Century Eggs and Cold Tofu brings wonder.

Checked out this place at King Louise Grill & Bar, Vivocity, located beside Daiso. Food was not bad, abit costly though. Saw some negative reviews online, well, perhaps there was some change of management. Personally I felt not as bad as it was reflected. Well, if you are going down with a group of guys, don't order the banquet (comes in King's and Queens Banquet). Looking at the picture above, I'm sure it will not satisfy your cravings. Can't exactly remember the price though, but if I'm not wrong was more than $60 for the banquet set. As for the taste, will give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Freshness is there, especially the cheese prawns and fillet.

Well, some of us was quite hungry and ordered steak and ribs too. Ribs was good... don't ask me bout the steak, can't take beef!

There's happy hour on Saturday, discounted price for Hoe Garden beer. =)

On the same day, we moved on to Udders at Novena after meal.

Udders serve alcoholic ice cream. So kids who are below 18, I'm sorry! You gotta miss this.

Try going for Lychee Martini and Choya. Not too strong, the taste is quite refreshing though.

Hi all, sprained my neck and visited a sin seh today. The cracking of bones was...WOAH. Quite bad that I couldn't turn my neck, and even had difficulties climbing out of bed. So most of the time I was resting on my bed... but 谢谢大家的祝福! Thanks everybody. =)

Ever since I started endorsing HTC Incredible S phone, many had asked, "So what's so special about this phone? " or " So how is this phone better than XXX phone? "

Well, to be frank, before I started using HTC incredible S, I really knew nuts about this product. But after started exploring, HTC Incredible S is more user-friendly than I actually thought.

Since I have been repeating many times about these 2 functions which I seriously like about HTC phones to my friends, guess I shall share it with my readers out there. Now, HTC incredible S can actually auto-synchronize your friends' information from facebook, twitter, whatsapp and merge EVERYTHING into their profile! This is not an application but this function is inbuilt within the phone!

I don't have to log into my individual apps to find out the information about my friends. Everything is within a touch! I can now just open my friend's profile within a single touch, and decide what actions later. That save so much time!

Well, apart from that, "Friendstream" is another function which's very useful to the social media addicts. With Friendstream, you are now able to view all your friends' status updates in facebook and twitter at one go! In addition to that, you can also update your status once, and it will be broadcasted to both fb and twitter! It's so convenient and saves so much time. Of course, you also have the option to post to either fb or twitter too.

With HTC Incredible S, it's so much convenient now!

Pictures come to life with HTC incredible S, with it's 8 megapixel camera, it can seriously capture every essence of the object taken, and make it come to life! It's as good as previewing my blog and pictures on a HD screen!

Was at Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie @ Raffles City to experience the wonders of HTC incredible S camera!

Now, look at this cup of coffee here. I'm impress with how the camera actually captures the foams on the surface. In fact, HTC incredible S is able to capture the surface gradient of the cup of coffee, doesn't it look as if it's just right infront of you now?

Making full use of the functions of the camera, I'm allow to crop the picture by just the pinch of my fingers with ease!

Are you able to see EACH and SINGLE foam on the surface now? Hmm... I wonder how does this go on my face. =X

Well, apart from the cropping function, HTC incredible S, like many other phone cameras, also allow the user to enhance the photo with different effects. But often, due to the limited effects in other phones, users often have to download other applications. I actually had to download other applications in my previous phone. However, HTC incredible S has a total of 11 effects to choose from! All within the camera functions!

Doesn't this set of pictures create a sense of retro "feel" ?

Though with the enhance effects, the essence of the pictures still remain. Look at the big foam on the top right hand of the coffee, in the 3 pictures. Still as clear!

If you like to add alittle border to your picture, try "Basic Frame" function. If not, probably "Bleak" adds on a little vintage feel to your pictures too.

Well, if you dislike the effects, you can stick to the original too.

And apart from coffee, also tried out the restaurant carbonara. Spaghettini served with an onion and bacon cream sauce, poached egg and sprinkled with aged Parmesan cheese.

The cream is just nice, not too creamy. Together with the bacon, it added flavors to the dish and it was just right.

A long lost mentor... Dr. Tan Wee Kiat

Back in the 1990s, when I was still in my primary school days, my mum was a hawker selling minced meat noodles at the old NIE campus which was located at Bukit Timah. During school holidays, Mum would usually bring me along so she could take care of me, and at the same time managing her stall. I still remembered I killed my time by catching spiders, big ants, and even playing card games with the NIE Teacher-to-be undergrads. One or two of them coincidentally became my primary school teacher before I left my Westlake Primary.

Thankfully, I met Dr. Tan during one of those days. I'm lucky to have met him, as he had brought me around to places like Botanic Gardens, Science Center, his offices and even to his house. Along the way, I pick up some knowledge which was never taught in class... such as pitcher plants, and in fact, some of these plants can grow as big as the size of a human palm.

Today, Dr. Tan is already 72 years old, still engaging in sports such as swimming. We met up today, after so many years. I think I last saw him was in 1998. He passed me two of his books on Singapore stamps. When I was young, Dr. Tan used to bring me to Singapore Philatelic Museum to look at the exhibition on Singapore Stamps. I had also later pick up the hobby of collecting stamps. But unfortunately, one year ago, the recycle organization accidentally took a bag left outside my house, and my few albums of stamps was gone. Well, stamps, in general, depicts a country's timeline. In fact, there's a story behind every stamps created. It can be a significant country event, an organization's anniversary, and even a famous person who had contributed to the country. These two books in the picture taken above, was written by Dr. Tan, and depicts the history and milestones behind some Singapore stamps. Written in a easy to read manner, suitable for all ages.

It was this book that bring 2 of us back together again. One day, during my NTU exams, I was packing my stuff, and found this book which was given by Dr. Tan when I was younger...

So I started searching Dr. Tan and this book online, and thanks to the power of the internet, not only did it bring the world closer, but it had also helped to reconnect relationships.

Dr. Tan, thanks for teaching me so much when I was younger. Without you, it wouldn't have spurred my interest in science. (I actually took up triple science class in secondary school). Keep in contact, and stay healthy!

With a record number of 50 drivers hailing from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and New Zealand. They will be going neck-to-neck for the championship title, promising audiences a thrilling demonstration of motoring talent and prowess. The audience will also get a chance to be closer to the action than in any other type of motorsport.

HTC Sensation Launch Party

Was invited by omy.sg and HTC Singapore to the Sensation Launch party last Wednesday, 8th June 2011.

Many were seen crowding around the HTC sensation promo board... expects faster performance with dual core processor, and on top of that, it's gonna be a multimedia powerhouse, just within the palm of your hand! Gadgets nowadays are getting smaller...smaller...and smaller.

As friendster moves into history on 31st May 2011, I went to dig out my old photos and some testimonials. Some were funny, and many, were nostalgic.

Was at Playnation @ Scape together with the Mech Engin kakis after our dim sum buffet..

Shiwei and Chengsiong here engrossed with "guitar hero" ....

And the rest of us were sweating out in the game Kinect, which most of us were involved in games like track, bowling, volleyball, soccer, boxing, etc. A good workout definitely, especially after the heavy dim sum buffet!

The interior deco here create a cozy feeling, and spacious enough to allow big movements and sensor detection for some of the games.

Alexis and Wei Ze involved in Kinect Boxing. Wei Ze seriously wanted to knock Alexis out in this game!

With OCBC cards, we got to enjoy the dim sum buffet at a cheaper price. Well, with the ambiance, food and service, it's definitely worth the price.

The dim sum and food generally was good... many variety to choose from, but there's no traditional dim sum favorites like egg tart and xiao long bao...

Busy eating, haha.

I think this was some fried beancurd skin with prawn fillings...

Not forgetting the traditional cha siew bao....

Duck wings and roast meat. I prefer the latter though. Skin was crispy...meat was not very fattening. But be sure the meat go with the chilli. Ups.

Other than the traditional dim sums, there are other chinese dishes that you can order from the menu as well....

Not exactly freedom yet. One more presentation to go. =)

Anyway. The difference b/w a final year engin student and a non-engin one?
You don't hear us shouting, " Last paper in NTU loh!" or "Say goodbye to my final sem!" ... cos it's "PAN DANG" A.k.a Taboo.
Because the papers were so tough that we seriously don't know what to expect... majiam like GE2011 or Star Awards Top 10 results. (Kk...GE2011 more exciting definitely.)

But anyway, Guan Yin Ma pls bo pi bo pi me clear all modules please. *begs*

I woke up early in the morning at 5.30am for a morning jog. The best came after the work out, that was to reward myself with the authentic "Sio Sio" Wonton Noodles!

Keep chanting on my blog doesn't count. So like what my prof and teachers always say, " Actions speak louder than words." I went down to waterloo street to pray to Guan Yin Ma. Please bless me to clear all my modules and pass my FYP with FLYING colors! And bless mummy good health and get well soon!

Finally had time to catch a movie after so long... last movie was... 大世界. Few months ago loh! Fast and Furious 5 was damn good. Other than the gorgeous ladies, the plot really keep your adrenaline going. Never did I check the time throughout the 2hr + show. Make sure you keep your eyes open before you miss any fast moving scene!

Gal Gadot, one of gorgeous ladies in Fast and Furious 5. Did a random search on the internet, and realized she's an Israeli actress and represented Israeli in Ms Universe 2004. Woahhh~

Following to the f-up paper, friends and I went to Benten Cafe @ Jurong point to venge our stress and unhappiness. And so we ordered...

Anbiry Baburu - The Massive Ice Cream! Can serve up to 4 - 6 people. 3 too much, 6 just nice.
